WINTER ACADEMIES

The CSU Softball Academies are designed with a low player to coach ratio, in order to give athletes the opportunity to work with the CSU softball coaches.  These instructional clinics will teach the same philosophies and use the same drills that the CSU Softball team uses for their training and development. THE CSU SOFTBALL ACADEMIES ARE OPEN TO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES OF ALL SKILL LEVELS.

CSU Softball Academies will be held on Monday nights throughout the winter. Sessions will be offered in catching, pitching, infield, and hitting. Each session is limited in capacity so that every athlete will get to work closely with coaches on their skills. The academies will run for seven weeks, (Nov. 24, Dec. 1, 8, 15, 29, Jan. 5, 12) with each week building on previous concepts and techniques while also introducing new skills and drills each week to help athletes continually develop their game.

Colorado State Softball Clinics are committed to improving the overall skill level of each individual regardless of age or level.  Come work with the CSU Softball coaches and learn new drills and philosophies to continue to improve and develop in the sport of softball.  Space is limited so sign up now to reserve your spot.  We look forward to working with you!  Go Rams!

Clinic Location: The Indoor Practice Facility (IPF) is located near the intersection of Plum & Shields Streets. From Shields St, go about 1.5 blocks East on Plum.  The IPF will be on the South side of Plum, just past Moby Arena.  The IPF will open approximately 10 minutes prior to the start of the first session.

Recommended Parking: It is highly recommended that you drop your camper off at the IPF.  Weekdays after 4:00pm or on most weekends we recommend the Moby Arena parking lot near the intersection of Shields & Elizabeth Streets.  The Moby lot is a short 5 minute walk on the sidewalk along the north side of Moby arena.  You also may choose to park in the “Pay to Park” ($1 per hour) lot at the Lory Student Center, which is directly East of the IPF & a 5-10 minute walk. Please read all parking signs.  CSU Softball is not responsible for any parking tickets received while on campus.

Pitching: The Pitching Academy is a great opportunity to work with Coach Taylor Gilmore on improving your pitching skills. This academy will take you through the same drills and progressions used by the CSU Softball team!  At the completion of the clinic, you will have a better understanding of data that is important for your pitching development. This data will include speed, spin, and movement gathered using Rapsodo. Also you will gain many more skills needed to be competitive as a pitcher. Space is limited to 6 participants.

Catching: The Catching academy is a great opportunity to work with Coach Garrett Fisher & the CSU Softball Coaches on improving your defensive skills and throwing mechanics. Training will cover the same drills and progressions used by CSU catchers, with an emphasis on framing, blocking, throwdowns, and mobility. Space is limited to 10 participants.

Hitting:  The Hitting Academy offers athletes the opportunity to train with Coach Garrett Fisher and the CSU Softball coaching staff to improve their offensive abilities! Participants will learn and train with the same drills and routines used by CSU hitters, focusing on mobility, proper mechanics, bat speed development, vision training, and other key components of elite hitting. Space is limited to 16 participants.

Infield: The Infield Academy provides infielders with the chance to work directly with Coach Garrett Fisher and the CSU Softball coaching staff to refine their infield skills and throwing mechanics. Athletes will follow a progression similar to the one used by the CSU team, emphasizing fielding mechanics, first-step quickness, drop steps, and other essential skills for high level infield play. Space is limited to 12 participants.
